Elizabeth Batts Cook (1742-1835) was the wife of Captain James Cook, the famous British explorer and navigator. Elizabeth and James Cook were married in 1762 and had six children together. Elizabeth supported her husband's career and played an important role in his expeditions, often joining him on his voyages.
After her husband's death in 1779, Elizabeth continued to be involved in the exploration and discovery of new territories. She maintained a close relationship with members of the Royal Navy and provided assistance to other explorers. In 1794, she published a biography of her late husband, entitled "Captain Cook's Original Voyages Round the World."
Elizabeth Batts Cook passed away in 1835 at the age of 93. She is remembered as a supportive and influential figure in the life of Captain James Cook and his pioneering expeditions.
